Gordon's Tragic Wheeze

The BBC reports:

"Britain's Got Talent judge and former newspaper editor Piers Morgan will interview Prime Minister Gordon Brown on his TV chat show, ITV has announced.

"He's one of the most famous people in the country yet remains a man of mystery to many," Morgan said.

The hour-long interview, which will be broadcast on 14 February, will precede a new six-part series of Morgan's Life Stories, which starts in March.

Morgan said Mr Brown was "an absolutely perfect subject" for the show.

"I have known Gordon Brown for over 15 years - he is a man who has enjoyed great triumph, suffered terrible tragedy, and will soon face the biggest challenge of his career," Morgan said."

It's actually a quite brilliant plan from Brown's point of view, though it reveals just what lengths he's going to go to in the months ahead. Because I can think of nothing more effective at making him look better by comparison than sticking him next to the epic shitbag that is Piers Morgan for an hour.
